During the ongoing visit of Vietnam’s President Tran Dai Quang to India, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) entered an agreement with the Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP) and the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATTOM) to collaborate on civil nuclear issues.
Dr. Shekhar Basu, Secretary DAE and Chairman Atomic Energy Commission signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the Indian Government. The MoU was exchanged in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Quang.
“The MoU strengthens capacity building and technical capabilities of VINATOM and cooperation in the field of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. Further the MoU facilitates organizing training, seminars, workshops and lectures by research experts from both sides on topical issues to develop a pool of trained human resource,” a press release issued by the DAE read. The MoU will be valid for a period of 5 years and will be renewed automatically thereafter with mutual consultations.
Dr. Basu also participated in the delegation level talks led by Prime Minister Modi.
